ST. NAZAIRE - THE YARD

Bridge

Crane

This is the place where we have spent our first 2 months. The ship from outside was more or less ready, some painting works remained only, but the inside was nearly empty. 20-25 trucks came every day to offload the stuff, which we had to put in its place within the ship.

BEST THING was the strong wind. As the yard period took place in November-December, it was really cold and windy. In case the wind was so strong that it was unsafe for the cranes to operate, then we have to take everything from deck 1 up to deck 13. I don't have to mention that the elevators were not in operation!!! NO OTHER COMMENT

Yard

Every day we had to try to clean up a little bit which was a dead idea, as people worked 24 hours a day there!

Sometimes we were tired, sometimes we could sneak away during the day into a quiet place where nobody was looking for us!

ST.NAZAIRE!

Couple of days before Christmas the gate opened for us, letting us to go to open waters! Thousands of people came to say good-bye, waving to us as Queen Mary 2 disappeared on the horizon!!!
